In Luke 17, we are told ten lepers were cleansed, but only one was pronounced saved.

What made the difference? Only one came back to thank Jesus once his cleansing was complete—and it was the foreigner at that.

Many times, it’s easy for us to become entitled to the promises of God like the other nine lepers. We have seen God move and work, we have seen His promises in action, and we begin to think we are owed His good gifts.

When we live from a place of entitlement, we will not live in a place of gratitude. The two are diametrically opposed.

The problem? Entitlement kills, and gratitude saves.

Every day, no matter what life has brought your way, you have something to be thankful for.

Jesus has cleansed you, saved you, crowned you, and clothed you. Nothing can rob you of this, and nothing can take you from His hands. That is enough reason to celebrate what God has done—for every breath until the last.

Every morning and every night, go back to thank God. We may have lots to complain about and plenty to worry about, but thankfulness should always come first.

Luke 17:17 Then Jesus answered and said, “Were there not ten cleansed? But the nine—where are they? 18 Was there no one found who turned back to give glory to God, except this foreigner?” 19 And He said to him, “Stand up and go; your faith has saved you.”
